What is tempered glass?

Tempered glass is annealed glass which is reheated to just below the melting point and then rapidly cooled to make it several times stronger than regular glass. It's approximately five times stronger than standard annealed glass. Tempered glass is safer than standard glass because if broken will fall into small pebble-like pieces without sharp edges. This is by design and is excellent proof of a well tempered product, not of a defective product.

How durable are your glass vessel sinks?

Our glass sinks are extremely durable if treated with care. The rims are strong and the bottom (the thickest part) is approximately (1" to 1-1/8" thick). Most common causes of breakage, however, are due to improper installation. Normal everyday items used in a bathroom such as toothbrushes, small jewelry, plastic cups etc., will not scratch or break a tempered glass sink.

How should I care for my glass vessel sink?

To avoid scratching, scouring or dulling the glossy surface of the glass, use a soft cloth with soap and/or water, glass cleaner or any other non-abrasive cleaner. Vinegar will help to remove most hard water spots. Do not use steel wool pads, scouring powders or anything abrasive.  As the rims tend to be the most vulnerable position on the sink, be careful not to exert excess pressure on the rim.  If you think that might be a problem, then consider purchasing a drop-in or semi drop-in vanity.

Are glass vessel sinks easy to install?

Those with some basic plumbing skills usually can install a glass vessel sink, however, we strongly recommend that you hire a plumber. You cannot put a price on peace-of-mind. It will be money well spent.

What are the Do's and Don'ts for my glass vessel sink?

Glass sinks are a lot more durable than you think, but precautions must be taken.

Do not attempt to fix a glass vessel sink. If a glass sink is chipped, cracked or broken, it cannot be repaired or "fixed like new." It must be replaced.

Do be concerned about wide differences in temperatures. For example, if you are installing your glass vessel sink outdoors, don't pour very hot water into it on a very cold day.

Do not allow the sink to come in contact with steel or other glass objects which could scratch or chip the surface.

Do not pour boiling water directly into the sink. Doing so may cause the sink to crack or shatter.

Do wipe the sink dry after every use to prevent water spots.

Do enjoy!
